Concert starts at 6:30 pm
Please join us for a beautiful evening of chamber music with the Kolea Trio. The performers are Gunhwan Jung, clarinet; Baekyu Kim, piano; and Amy Dahm Huh, viola. Dr. Baekyu Kim and Dr. Amy Dahm Huh are both originally from South Korea, and are now professors of music and performers in New York City, who have won numerous awards and accolades for their many performances in places as diverse as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Space, and Salle Cortot in Paris. Gunhwan Jung, also originally from South Korea but who now lives in Honolulu, is a superb clarinetist who received his doctorate at Boston University in clarinet performance, and also performs frequently at Carnegie Hall.
Their name, "Kolea Trio" has two meanings. Kolea is Hawaiian for Korean. It is also the name of an inquisitive bird which frequents Hawaii.
This is a unique opportunity to enjoy world-class chamber music in a restaurant setting, and is part of Medici's "Salon" series. Sip a glass of chardonnay or pinot noir during the concert. Talk to the performers afterwards and discuss the merits of Mozart vs. Piazzola!
The program includes:
Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K. 622, by Wolfgang Mozart, Second Movement
Four Songs by Astor Piazzola
2. Yo soy Maria
3. Milonga sin Parablas
4. Balada para un Loco
Kegelstatt Trio in E-flat Major, K. 498, by Wolfgang Mozart
III. Rondeaux : Allegretto
Medici's International Buffet will be served from 5:30-6:30, but will be closed during the concert. Wine, beer, and well drinks will be available at the bar.
